Update on the market in the GCC countries.
The Middle East market is under tremendous pressure to clear containers from Dammam port in Saudi Arabia due to port congestion, causing delays and disruptions to the normal flow of operations. Many ships must wait outside the port to berth. This is because of the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea, where containers from South Africa are only being shipped to Dammam port and not Jeddah port in Saudi Arabia. There is also congestion in Jebel Ali port in the United Arab Emirates.

Citrus
Citrus fruit – In general
Lemons in general seem to be under pressure in most markets, however market trends indicate that Global markets will pick up in coming weeks when Egypt and China are out of the market. Early Navels from South Africa will compete with a high volume of small size Egyptian Valencias in the Middle East market, however Late Navels from South Africa might do well.
Market update
High volumes of Lemons in the market, however the market should start picking up in the next 2-3 weeks when Egypt is out of the market.

Royal Gala prices fell significantly as a result of importers dropping prices. Wholesalers put pressure on inexperienced importers to drop prices, causing the whole market to follow.
