In General

Market activity remained slow both during and after Eid. Landed cost of produce increased drastically due to higher logistics costs on both sea freight and road freight legs, depending on the destination.

Demand is currently concentrated on lemons, grapes, peaches, nectarines, and plums, all of which are achieving high price levels. In contrast, other key commodities, including apples and pears, are trading at slower than expected rate.

Citrus

Very slow sales on the wholesale market due to the ongoing Middle East tensions and heavy rainfall.

There is low demand for the current Egyptian Valencia available on the market, despite the low prices.

Lemons continue to sell at exceptionally high prices due to limited volumes.

South Africa

Ongoing rainfall in Northern production areas continues to impact harvesting and packing, which may still constrain supply in the short term.

Grape, Kiwi & Stone

Grapes

Seedless grapes (red and black) are now in very short supply, with only limited volumes available. Prices are holding firm at higher levels due to reduced availability.

Seeded grapes are becoming increasingly scarce, and prices continue to strengthen as the season winds down.

Kiwi

Iranian kiwi fruit remains available in the Middle East market at high prices.

Stone Fruit

Apricots: The season has fully ended, with no meaningful volumes available in the market.

Plums: Supply remains very limited as the season draws to a close. Prices are firm and may increase slightly due to the shortage of good-quality fruit.

India / Bangladesh

India

Weak Indian Rupee

The INR weakened to over 94 vs the USD. This is causing a lot of imported food inflation and putting pressure on imported fruit moving through the chain. Indians have also started to stock up on essentials like gas, cooking oil, etc which leaves them with less disposable income.

Bangladesh

No report due to Eid holidays.
