Citrus

Citrus fruit – South Africa

Multiple cold fronts have spread across South Africa affecting most of the current production regions.

In the Western Cape (South) we are experiencing widespread flooding, while in the Northern region orchards have been affected by severe frost. This is causing damage to the citrus crop.

Harvesting and packing will be limited over the coming days and the real extent of the damage will only be determined once weather is cleared and orchards have dried.

Market update

Increase in sales and price levels for Lemons, however South African Navel prices are taking a knock because of Navels in the market with a green and yellow colour, however good quality Navels with orange colour are selling at good price levels. There is currently only Lemons and Navels from South Africa in the market with no competition from other countries.
