Update on the GCC countries
The market experienced a strong rebound this week, showing clear improvement over last week. The increase in demand, driven by the back-to-school period and the conclusion of summer vacations, contributed to the more positive performance.
Apple prices dropped slightly, particularly for end-of-season fruit from South Africa and Chile, as the arrival of new-season apples from Italy and France began to influence the market. Pears, on the other hand, are seeing a more favourable trend, with both sales momentum and pricing showing consistent week-on-week gains.

In Letsitele Late Valencia orange packing continues. The season is expected to finish in the next 2 – 3 weeks. In Senwes the season is complete and packing has been wrapped up.
In the Eastern Cape only limited lemon volumes remain; with small weekly volumes still being packed. Late Mandarins will continue with approximately 3 weeks left. Cambria and Witkrans packing ongoing, with good fruit quality reported.
The Western Cape packing of Late Mandarins (mainly Nadorcott and Tango) is in full swing. High eating quality still remains to be packed, with internals remaining strong. Cambria packing is steady with good colour. Small volumes of Midknight oranges have started, with sizing peaking on C64/C72. 80% of Valencia oranges still to be packed in the region.
Market update
Overall citrus prices, including both oranges and lemons, showed positive momentum this week, driven by the reopening of schools and the conclusion of the summer holiday period. The exception was the Cambria variety of oranges, which experienced some downward pressure on pricing due to increased market volumes.
The first Egyptian Lemons have made arrival in Saudi Arabia but very limited stock. Lemon prices are projected to remain stable this season, supported by a seasonal shortage from Turkey.

Pome fruit – South Africa
Controlled Atmosphere (CA) pear packing continues at limited volumes, as suppliers manage remaining stocks to try and stretch the season for as long as possible.
Market update
A slight decline in the prices of both Chilean and South African Royal Gala/Gala apples was observed this week. The downward adjustment is attributed to the arrival of the first new season apples from Italy and France that have arrived in the market, which has begun to displace end-of-season supplies from South Africa and Chile, as the market transitions into the new season apples from the Northern Hemisphere. In contrast, pear sales continue to improve week by week.
