Market update

There is a decrease of 3% on Orange volumes shipped from South Africa to the Middle East, compared to the same period last season. There was a slight drop in the market demand and sales over the past few days for Valencia oranges. Cambria is still selling at high price levels.

Pear sales slow

Pear sales have slowed down although there are limited volumes in the market. Volumes of Valencias are reaching the market now and this is causing importers to sell below cost. SA citrus season is at the end and volumes shipped should reduce drastically as from next week.

Apples in full swing

Royal Gala Apples are still a highlight in the market. Golden Delicious are also performing well, but it depends on the quality and colour of the apples. Importers are losing money on Chinese and Indian apples. Demand for Northern Hemisphere apples have picked up.
