The overall market remained stable , with pricing and demand for most commodities remaining in line with last week’s levels. Mandarins, pears, and lemons continue to perform strongly, supported by sustained demand.

Citrus
The late Mandarin season is coming to an end this week. Midknight and Valencia volumes will continue for the next two weeks in the Western Cape.
The Eastern Cape, Letsitele and Senwes are finished.
Market update
This week, Valencia and Cambria oranges in Saudi Arabia have remained steady, with prices holding firm in line with last week’s levels.
Mandarins, limited availability is driving higher sales and prices, with quality a key market factor. The price gap between African and Peruvian mandarins remains steady, however Peruvian mandarin price levels are slightly lower due to the appearance of the fruit.
Lemon supply remains limited, with South African fruit performing strongly in the market. Limited availability of Egyptian lemons continues to support steady demand and favourable price levels.

The 2025/2026 season is progressing smoothly, closely aligned with the timing of the 2023/2024 season. Early and mid-season grape varieties are developing well, supported by favourable growing conditions across all major production areas. The October weather outlook remains positive, with warm and mild conditions fostering excellent flowering and fruit set—both crucial for ensuring a strong harvest.
In the Orange River region, harvesting is scheduled to commence in week 47 with Early Sweet and Prime, followed by continued activity through weeks 48 and 49.
