The market is currently supplied with pears from several origins. Those being Spain, Portugal, and Italy.  Plus, there is still RSA Forelle pears in all the markets.

The apple market has remained stable. This stability is supported by the lower supply volumes from European countries such as France, Italy & Poland, with lesser volumes coming from Serbia, Moldova, and closer countries such as Azerbaijan. Zero supply from Turkey this season thus far.

Stone Fruit -South Africa

Peaches – The market will experience a supply gap over the next two weeks, with only limited volumes available until the next variety comes into production in week 49.

Nectarines – Packing is now in full swing, and sizing is improving, with a stronger shift toward size 20/23.

Apricots – Ongoing water shortages are affecting the crop, resulting in generally smaller sizes. Current indications suggest the harvest will peak on medium-sized fruit.

Plums – Packing has just commenced, and volumes remain limited at this early stage.

Market update

The early stone fruit (airfreight) from South Africa to Saudi Arabia has started arriving, entering the market with high pricing, and creating strong competition for other supplying countries.

Cherries – Market update

There is currently strong price competition between South Africa and Chile in the market.

However, initial offers are now coming through from New Zealand, Argentina, and Australia, and these origins are expected to enter the market shortly, adding further competition for both South Africa and Chile.

Mangoes -South Africa

The South African mango crop appears to be larger this season. As seen last year, the Tommy Atkins variety is expected to begin with smaller sizes, with sizing improving as the season progresses. The first early mango harvest is anticipated to begin within the next 1–2 weeks.

Market update

The market is currently supplied with mangoes from Egypt.

Pomegranates – Peru

The harvest of the first early Pomegranates from Peru is expected to start in December.
