The latest update on Lemon inspections passed for export YTD by the end of week 18 was down by -12.2% and Nova exports are down by -21% to all countries However, there is an increase of +8% on Navel types passed for export YTD by the end of week 18 to all countries.

Lemons to the Middle East – a decrease of 15% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to the 2020 season.
Grapefruit to the Middle East – a decrease of 5% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to the 2020 season. However, the gap is becoming smaller than last week (-10.8%) as higher volumes of grapefruit are being packed.

The latest update on apple inspections from South Africa and passed for export YTD by the end of week 18 was up by +22% to all countries. Despite higher volumes on apples from South Africa these volumes are being shipped to the UK, Europe and Far East to fulfil retails programs and lower volumes are being sent to the GCC countries from both South Africa and Chile.
South Africa are passed their peak weeks on the harvesting of Forelle and Vermont Beaut pears. Volumes will continue to get less week by week and price levels are expected to start increasing with the limited supply going forward.

Plums from South Africa to the Middle East – an increase of 86% of cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to the 2020 season.
Plums from Chile to the Middle East– a decrease of 9% of cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to the 2020 season.

Kiwi fruit volumes shipped from Chile to the Middle East remain low at -48% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to the 2020 season.

India
India Covid cases seems to have plato’d and the hope is that we will start to see a decline in due course. Apples and citrus performing well still. ALL other fruits struggling to sell due to lock downs. Not much further to report as most services are closed.
Bangladesh
As Ramadan comes to an end and the Eid festivities commence, apples show impressive performance in the market in Bangladesh, achieving good prices and above-average sales.
The orange price had declined somewhat with a sudden increase in volumes having entered the market.
Soft citrus is scarce causing much anticipation for the onset of new season arrivals.
