Grapes
The packing of white grapes is going well in the Northern Province with good quality and berry sizing. Although the season started 10 days later in both the Northern Province and Orange River regions, both regions are in full production now.
Middle East – decrease of 44% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to 2020 season.
Stone fruit RSA
Stone fruit packing is going well with an increase in volume for all commodities exported by the end of week 49 compared to the 2020 season with the exception of Nectarine volumes that are still down.
Peaches to Middle East – increase of 30% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to 2020 season. Peaches inspected and passed for export YTD by the end of week 49 is down by -1% compared to the same period last season.
Nectarines to Middle East – decrease of 37% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to 2020 season. Nectarines inspected and passed for export YTD by the end of week 48 is down by -21% compared to the same period last season.
Plums to Middle East – decrease of 42% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to 2020 season. Plums inspected and passed for export YTD by the end of week 49 is 2% compared to the same period last season.
Apricots to Middle East – increase of 73% on cumulative volumes shipped to date compared to 2020 season. Apricots inspected and passed for export YTD by the end of week 48 is 3% up compared to the same period last season.

With great relief, there has been a much-needed improvement in South African Citrus pricing as it clambers its way back after a disastrous downturn in the week prior. This price crash was largely due a glut of low-cost Valencia entering the market which appears to finally be thinning out.
Chinese Grapes are “hot” right now, demand proving strong with good sales and high price levels being the order of the day.
Chinese apples also appear to be regaining ground with steady increases from previous weeks.
